FAQ
Accommodation
Can I pay for only a few days if I don’t need a full month?
Unfortunately, no. Our properties are offered as month-to-month rentals. If you only need a couple days we recommend trying nearby Trawool, Seymour, where you can find some great homestay and motel options.
Can I book by the week or day?
No. Our properties are offered as month-to-month rentals. If you only need a couple days we recommend booking in nearby Trawool or Seymour.
Can I stay for several months?
Of course. However, it must be in monthly increments.
Can I share my stay across other groups?
Yes, you can. You have it for a month and if you want to share across friends and family, go for it. They just need to follow the house rules.
How do I time-share my stay?
Find a group of people, decide how long you want, who’s coming and when. Then book the property. Too easy!
What’s a share-stay?
A word we made up :) If you’ve ever heard of a time-share it’s the same idea. If you haven’t, it’s where a group pays upfront for a longer stay and works out amongst themselves who stays when and for how long. For example, you and three roommates could book the property to get away for some solitude, so you all pay for it then divide it into 1-week stays. That’s a share-stay.
Why 28 days?
A few reasons: to keep guests from having to pay the 7.5% tax for short term stays; the region has limited options for short term stays any longer than a few days (or at an accessible amount); we’re also hoping creatives see this as a place to practice and feel inspired, without worrying about packing up after a couple days or weeks.
Can I bring my children?
For sure. 18 Main Road (The Brick House) is best for kids as it has a dedicated “kids room” with toys and a bean bag. It also includes a high chair. 16 Lodge (The Blue House) has a roll-a-way bed perfect for a child and we can provide a high chair—just ask.
Pets
Can I bring my dog?
Of course. However, the properties are not fenced in and there are hazards to be aware of (eg. snakes), so please reach out and we can provide more info and pricing.
Can I bring my cat?
Yes, actually, you can. The property abides by the ”no cats out at night“ rule and there are snakes, roads and other things to consider. Please contact us and we’ll provide more info and pricing.
Can I bring my wombat?
You can bring an animal as long as it’s legal (and we’re pretty sure you can’t have a marsupial as a pet). Please contact us to organise what that looks like and how much it will be.
Services
Is the water drinkable?
Yes, it is. Straight from Goulburn Valley Water.
Is it wheelchair accessible?
18 Main Road (The Brick House) is wheelchair accessible, with a ramp from the driveway into the main entrance. 16 Lodge Street (The Blue House) is a little more old-school and, unfortunately, not wheelchair accessible.
Are services included?
Yes! You don’t pay anything but the price advertised on our website. No hidden fees, no cleaning fee and no extra taxes.
Are bed sheets provided?
Bed sheets can be provided for a fee of $100 per bed for the entire stay. Each property has a washing machine and line so you can wash as much (or as little) as you need.
Are towels provided?
Yes. They’re part of the fee and we provide one towel per person, as well as a hand towel, bath mat and face washer. Also good to know: each property has a washing machine and line so you can wash as you need!
Can I use the wood burner?
Yes. However, please note that usage of the wood burner is subject to a separate cleaning fee and wood is not provided.
Is the house on septic?
Yes. To find out what that means, keep reading.
What are the rules with septic?
Only pee, poop and toilet paper can be flushed in the toilet.
Only water and septic-safe detergents can go down the laundry and kitchen sinks.
Only water and septic-safe soap, shampoo and conditioner can go in the shower.
If it’s none of these, it can’t be flushed or washed into the septic. If it's none of these, then please put it in the bin.
So please, please, please: don’t put food, coffee or tea leaves down the kitchen sink or flush baby wipes in the toilet. These will block the septic and then we’ll have a bigger set of problems to deal with than putting something in the bin.
Can I use flushable wipes with septic?
Definitely not. If it isn’t poo, wee or toilet paper, it can’t be flushed down the toilet.
Can I rinse my coffee, tea or food down the kitchen sink?
Nope! If it isn’t water, soap or detergent, it can’t go in the drain. Anything that drains from the house (shower, kitchen sink, laundry, toilet) goes to a septic tank. Septic systems cannot break down anything that isn’t water, wee, poop or toilet paper.
Under no circumstances are cooking oil, paint, acid or petroleum products to be used in any of the sinks.
And that's it! You've reached the end of our FAQs.
